Why are Christians so sensitive to LEGITIMATE criticism from other Christians?

Case in point: Some answers posted here are actually rants against the questioner when, in fact, the questioner is right to be questioning! For example: claims that the Bible is "the Word of God" are ridiculous yet many of the responses to questioners border on hateful vengeance. Take time to read Christian scholar Bart D. Ehrman's book "Misquoting Jesus" and you will recant the claim and apologize to the questioners.. (Ehrman became born again while in high school and went on to obtain degrees from the Moody Bible Institute, evangelical Wheaton College-which Billy Graham attended-and Princeton Theological Seminary). Ehrman points out in great detail HOW and WHY the Bible was changed in the COPIES OF COPIES of the original, most written MANY years later, and that the copies are ERROR-RIDDEN--sometimes UNINTENTIONALLY and sometimes INTENTIONALLY. That the Bible is even the INSPIRED word of God becomes less than useful. Why not ACCEPT this particular fact without hateful responses?
