We care less for greenery around us! But we turn our rivers green through our piety. Is this not a paradox!?

In India several millions of pilgrims throng to offer seasonal worship in famous places of worship attributed with miracle happenings and devotee-favours. Most of these temples situate by the side of great rivers and these rivers have become polluted and its waters have turned green. Still pilgrims take bath in these rivers and even drink it to please the God. Last year over 40 million devotees embled in a particular hill temple in Kerala situated in the midst of a deep forest. The wild animals once feared by the pilgrims are no more there along with its natural flora and fauna. The entire place is littered with plastics and human waste. These things are let into the river and the water has become breeding ground for all disease causing elements and mosquitoes. The State is now in an epidemic grip of chikungunya and dengue fever. If faith and custom do not allow spreading the pilgrimage over the year what remedy one can suggest tiding over this odd situation.
