Im doing a paper on leonardo da vinci and i want to know was leonardo gay?

If you are asking this because he only used male models. This was the custom at the time. The church was very much in control in the 1500's. No one used female models unless they were commissioned to paint that person . Certainly not nude. His nude women were painted from personal observation. Since those observations were so very good I would venture to guess he had personally observed a nude female. Leonardo was said to be a beautiful person himself with graceful movements and long blond hair. He was intellectually gifted and certainly eccentric but my guess ,from looking at his art , is that he probably enjoyed the looks of women over men. I would pick Michelangelo as more of a possibility over Leonardo.
