Can you explain the following expression in the poem "Reflecting Sungles" by Pat Lowther?

She is looking at 'society' and commercialism and the way that these components affect each one of us. When we are born all we have is our DNA, which has been handed down by our parents BUT society then changes us and we then carry 'tunnels of vision through the imaginary fabric' of our brains. 'Lean closer and you'll see/you looking out/from me.' - we have all been immersed and created by this 'society' which in turn is controlled by the seriously wealthy.
